Objective
Remote Strategy Plus were engaged by Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park as Project Managers to deliver the Digitalisation of the UKTNP Plan of Management Project / Keeping Aṉangu Law and Culture Strong Project. Using digital resources for Aṉangu to communicate the UKTNP Management Plan, the project was to create a digital storybook about the Plan of Management, led by Anangu, spoken by Aṉangu, in Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara with English subtitles.
Our approach
Remote Strategy Plus led with a levels of creativity and professionalism that recognised the importance of designing a process that could identify, achieve and maximise Aṉangu engagement, understanding and opportunities stemming from this project and from Joint Management for years to come. There was a focus on using flexible engagement, project management and reporting approaches adapted to the needs of the project to develop an understanding of the process undertaken for the life of the project. Key achievements from adopting a flexible approach included Nyangatjatara College students were involved across all aspects of the delivery of the project, and included 11 lessons delivered at the Mutitjulu campus. A total of 72 Aṉangu were engaged 329 times in 18 different ways for the life of the project.
Remote Strategy Plus applied extensive rigour to project governance throughout the project, including project planning, controls, record keeping, to ensure the process was documented and recorded effectively, and so that project impact could be measured.
Impact
Aṉangu engagement over the life of the project ensured all aspects of the project were shaped by Aṉangu, delivering a website based on chapters of the Plan of Management, told from an Aṉangu perspective. The “Ara-Ku-Kulini” website was launched in March 2024, in a community-led event in Mutitjulu. https://www.ara-ku-kulini.net.au/
