Cultural Tourism Framework development
Objective
Remote Strategy Plus were engaged to support the NT Government’s Aboriginal Tourism Committee over a series of workshops, facilitating the group in identifying and creating an outline for the various elements of an Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Framework.
Our approach
Our methodology for this project involved conducting extensive SWOT exercises with the group to examine entry points for Aboriginal cultural tourism in the Northern Territory. It also included leading the group through a process to identify critical components of the journey and pathways into tourism, including mapping industry access points and supports. This work enhanced the Aboriginal Tourism Committee’s understanding of a cultural tourism framework, in addition to reviewing their Terms of Reference and strategic elements, refining the Committee’s direction.
Impact
Outputs included an updated strategic workplan, a risk mitigation matrix and finalisation of the Aboriginal Tourism Committee Strategic Work Plan 2022/23, which sets a vision for the Northern Territory to be the undeniable leader in the Aboriginal tourism sector.
